No, I mean the toolbar itself, as you can see in the following attachment. The drop-down menu is fine.

Eh? The font is about the same size as Camino and Safari. Though I did notice the bold looked off in aqua so I had just gotten rid of it. I had some major font inconsistancy going on.

Not really sure what my opinion is. I can imagine there being quite a lot of users who would use the separate subforum if it was launched but there is always the issue of perhaps having too many subforums or it being filtered too finely when it could all belong in one section, for instance.

They can't produce complete and useful sentences in the iPhone forums either yet those still exist.

The majority of people here are geeks, and geeks like science.

    That's a good counterpoint.

Education is important. Very important. But I guess Chinese people here in NYC buy up iPads to ship to hk/china while Chinese in hk/china buy up all the salt!!

    http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/slideshow/photo//110317/481/urn_publicid_ap_org_de38b2abdf734f938fae1e28b8dd2dd1/

They queue in line to buy salt. What is this world coming to?!

"Panicked shoppers stripped stores of table salt in Hong Kong - and in cities across the mainland - amid internet claims that it can ward off radiation exposure from Japan. The alarm sparked calls from Secretary for Food and Health York Chow Yat-ngok for people to be level-headed and stop listening to false rumors. Consumers also worry that salt in future may be produced from radiation- contaminated seawater.
The panic-buying pushed up the retail price of salt to as high as HK$30 a catty, from the usual HK$2.

The salt frenzy also hit Macau, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other mainland cities as misinformation crisscrossed the region via the internet in the wake of Japan's nuclear emergency.

Chow said the rumors about salt being a radiation remedy and affected seawater are "totally unfounded." "Three-quarters of the Earth's surface is made up of seawater," he said. "We believe the supply of salt will not be affected. The contamination of the seawater around Japan will be much diluted or washed away after some time." Chow said iodine - which can help lower the absorption of certain radioactive chemicals in the body - is useful only if people take iodine tablets within six hours before or after radiation exposure. [...]

"What matters most is that Hong Kong citizens should have common sense and analytical skills, and understand how radiation may affect our bodies," Chow said. "We should not get affected by such rumors and the speculators who may be spreading the rumors in the hope of making profits."

People with edema, high blood pressure and kidney disease risk damaging their health more if they consume too much salt. Undersecretary for Food and Health Gabriel Leung said about 85 percent of the table salt on the market is not iodized. "One has to take about 2.5 to five kilograms of [iodized] table salt a day in order to absorb the dose of iodine that is contained in an iodine tablet," he said.

Tommy Chan Hing-moon, a clinical psychologist at Matilda Medical Centre, said a "herd mentality" causes shoppers to follow what others do amid a panic. "This is an overreaction by citizens after hearing rumors and seeing negative media coverage about the potential dangers of nuclear disasters," Chan said ..."

I had been using Windows XP in Boot Camp for almost a year and decided to install Windows 7 instead. I am having trouble opening many files. In XP, I used MacDrive to read/write to my Macintosh HD and I have updated it to the one with Windows 7 support, but every program (games) I try to run off of it give me a network error, "Network Error: Windows cannot access (FILE PATH). Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise it might be a problem with your network..."

This only happens with applications on the Macintosh HD.

I copied the file onto the windows partition it runs normally, but i will run out of space soon if I have to keep doing this. Does anyone know how to fix it? Everything worked fine in XP. Thanks.

Yes, it is scary when you are in a hospital and the power goes off. I have had it happen also. In each incidence the backup generator kicked in as scheduled. In the summer, could hear the motor start.

Just glad that everyone is alright. I can visualize exactly what went on in the OR and CCU areas of the hospital.

A time when windows really help.

You don't need to actually uninstall the theme to update at present. Just install over it to update. It's less trouble.

Oooh, I'm sorry, what I was trying to say was that I did this. I tried to install it over the existing version, but for some reason, it would not work on my install, and I was forced to uninstall and reinstall. But it sounds like it is an isolated case, and maybe it has something to do with one of my extensions or something (*slaps TBE* bad TBE, bad TBE :)).

I do hope that update.mozilla.org picks you up.

Click, and click everywhere! If it appears it can be clicked, click it. If it appears it can't, click anyway.

I learnt Mac OS X back in 2001 by myself just by experimenting and exploring. There is very little in Mac OS X that you can damage irreparably simply by fiddling unless you are a Unix freak.

MacOSXHints.com and friends were my best bet for hard to work out problems and never be afraid to ask a Mac user a question, they are generally quite friendly and willing to help you out.

I was thinking about this on my way home today.

If your driving on the highway you would obviously get better fuel economy if you turned off your A/C. But if you turned off the A/C and opened the windows of your car would the aerodynamics get messed up and reduce your fuel economy. If so by how much. It would obviously depend on the vehicle, but I'm just speaking in general.

Maybe I'll preform an experiment one of these days...

I keep VLC around for anything I have trouble with...but when I try to play something that I haven't downloaded I occasionally run into problems. Gotta love VLC and Flip though

    Hi,

Just setting up a new iPhone for my father, who has (under my poor watchful eye!) clicked the 'Never Register' button on iTunes when plugging the phone in. Is there a way of registering it still through iTunes? Many thanks!

Oh, and I've tried restoring it to its factory settings and even that doesn't bring the registration screen back!

    Even on Mac osx?

Yes. Refer to the post below.

First you need to download and install the CUDA Drivers from nVidia http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_get.html

You should already be running the latest version of BOINC.

Once you have done these things, you, in theory are ready to start using your GPU in OSX BOINC to crunch stuff.....

    Why isn't it crunching?

Because no apps inside of BOINC (Seti@home, Aqua@home, etc etc etc) have been re-written to take advantage of CUDA on the mac.

It seems Einstein@home is getting close, but for the moment (As of Feb 6th, 2010) nothing in the OSX BOINC world supports CUDA, or OpenCL. Not to be a downer, but don't expect that to change anytime soon. There just aren't enough volunteers with programming knowledge (or programmers that own the proper hardware to test their knowlege) in this area to make it happen quickly.

Please refer to this post. Only a few number of projects can use CUDA on a mac, Collatz Conjecture is one of them that is available right now

Thanks for sharing your set up. So do you have to each one separately to see what is due, what you need? Or do they somehow overlap each other?

michelleYou've got to set up each independently.

I use Todo for projects, and I use Due for small stuff that I'd likely forget to do on time (clothes need to be dry by tomorrow, so as soon as I get home I should start the laundry) and things I might forget doing altogether (like taking my meds). What's great about Due is it just keeps beeping at you every minute till you either do what you need to do and check it off or postpone it ten minutes, one hour, or one day in case you can't do it at that time.

    Check out SoX (http://sox.sourceforge.net/)

    You can record via
    sox -d file.wav

Of course it supports lots of other formats and options.
