I wonder if Leo Laporte hired him at TWiT. On one of the shows the other day, he said they had a new employee coming in, but didn't say who it was.

Hmmm... I remember Leo saying he wanted a New York studio for a morning show on TWiT.

Engadget is based out of NYC if I'm not mistaken.

Improbable, but it would be cool.

It's probably the camera. I've got an iSight, while my friend has one of those old Logitech quickcams. The picture from his camera (he's using some piece of software that let's you use USB cams with iChat) is just terrible, even when we're both on our gigabit network at work.

He tried out a different USB 1.1 camera from Creative, and the picture was significantly better. Still nowhere near iSight quality though.

If you think about it, even USB 1.1 speeds should be more than enough - 11mbps is far higher than what most of us have up to the internet. So it comes down to how much money the manufacturer put into the camera itself.

I upgraded my 3G to iOS 4 and now I'm regretting having done so. At first it seemed to be somewhat faster, but a few days later after I loaded my data (contacts, music, emails), I noticed that the phone's performance went down to the floor.
Now I'm considering going back to 3.1.3.

    Progressive Rock

    Fixed :p

I'm not gonna bother posting my full genre list, as there are nearly 200 different ones in my iTunes (including different types of metal, different eras and types of "classical", and some made-up ones).

Try a factory reset: unplug it from power, and while pressing the reset button plug it in again while still holding the reset button for a few seconds.

Click, and click everywhere! If it appears it can be clicked, click it. If it appears it can't, click anyway.

I learnt Mac OS X back in 2001 by myself just by experimenting and exploring. There is very little in Mac OS X that you can damage irreparably simply by fiddling unless you are a Unix freak.

MacOSXHints.com and friends were my best bet for hard to work out problems and never be afraid to ask a Mac user a question, they are generally quite friendly and willing to help you out.

Going off topic. All the MPEG-2 BD's I've seen have this obnoxiuos "mosquito noise", and of course HD DVD and BD w/ VC-1 looks great!

Have you seen Crank? Crank is viewed by many as possibly the best looking live action BD to date and is MPEG2. I certainly thought it looked amazing. Also check Kingdom of Heaven and Black Hawk Down, both reference quality MPEG2 BDs. There are some MPEG2s that look like crap, but those are mostly the 25gb discs that lowered the bitrate to fit onto the discs.

I've always wanted one too. Would it work as a good web server? I might just make one a home file server.

I spoke to one of my dealers today and they offered me two demo 20" ACDs for c250$ less than the 23".

I do hobby video and photos with no chance of going pro.
The only reason not to go for the dual-monitor approach is desk space. If this is not an issue, two 20" monitors is better.

    (1) Screen space - dual monitors gets you >3.5 megapixels, one 23-inch 2.28MP. That's more than 50% additional space.

    (2) Division of work. You can put your workspace on one side, and your pallettes, menus, etc on the other. One 20-inch screen is alot of space to edit a photo, especially when you don't have any menus, dock, etc cluttering the screen, like you would with a single 23-inch.

    (3) Your DVD-video won't fill the 23-inch screen, at least not at native resolution, unless it's HD. It will play just fine on the 20" screen.

And for less money? It's a no-brainer, in my opinion. Unless desktop space is a premium.

    Dave

    Mario film...cult status....more like 50cent bin status
MPrime...a movie without any dialogue just trippy movie...cool sounds like 2001 to me.

Note: Anything Silent Hill rocks!...the movie was grand...not sticking to the story but none the less.

I don't understand the need for the security.

Well if any application could send anything to any other applications your asking for viruses crashing and all sorts of issues. You need to have them sandboxed to some extend and have meditation for what can communicate. To get around this you use the network but the address 127.0.0.1.

I wish Apple had a 24" model still.

That would be the perfect size screen for me =/

I've got two 20" widescreens attached to my Power Mac at home, and I like dual screens a lot more than I thought I would. I went dual screen originally because it was the cheapest way to get the most screen space. Like a lot of people, it seems, I ended up using one screen to house all the applications I want open all the time (Adium, iTunes, pearLyrics, Mail, Finder window), and have the entire other screen for working on whatever it is I'm working on. I like having the dedicated "space" for all that stuff.

I've watched a movie on my Power Mac just once, but I also liked that I could have one whole screen dedicated to the movie, and still have another separate space for surfing the web or playing solitare or whatever else I wanted to do.

The bezel on the screens doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would and the screens just seem to kind of bleed together.

If I had to choose between two 20"s and one 24", I'd likely go with the two 20"s, especially if it were cheaper.
