I have a 2011 MBP 17" and I order the kit from MaxUpgrades.
The kit including optibay, enclosure for superdrive and a Vertex3 120GB and two day shipping was $370 IRC. They even managed to ship the same day I ordered. So it was definitely a plus. Considering you have a maybe pick a SATAII based SSD unless you plan to upgrade some time down the road so you could recycle the SATAIII SSD.
The only downside is that it doesn't come with any instruction. But then again, it's not very different to others. Just be careful and you shouldn't have any problem.
The optibay is very well made, feels solid when holding. I didn't have any fitting issue although some other users have reported some slight problems. I think it's because they are pretty tight fit, so don't tighten then screw all the way until you have all 3 on.
I ordered the Maxupgrades kit also. Seemed like a bargain compared to OWC's. I've been rally happy with the dealings I've had with them. I have no idea why there's a love affair with OWC. Opened or unopened, their 15% restocking fee is a sham.

And yet another one (2 in five minutes!!). Links to http://www.ibm.com/smarterplanet/au/en/cloud_computing/ideas/
We've requested that both ads be removed from the ad pool.

To be honest, I hate Pitchfork - they only seem to value indie music. While I love Arcade Fire and Stars, I do like to listen to slightly more mainstream music too.
It almost seems like Pitchfork will automatically rate an album between 4.8 and 6 if it's by a rock artist. I guess it's their opinion, but I'd like to see positive reviews of other music every once in a while.

Might get the second, i've heard great things about i7. Also i've heard wifi is better on MB because the aluminum interferes on the MBP?
With a MBP you get a newer processor that won't be outdated nearly as fast as a C2D. You also get thunderbolt. It may not mean anything to you now since there are not that many thunderbolt devices but there will be in the future, and you get a better graphics card in a MBP than in the MB. You get Intel HD 3000 in the MBP and NVIDIA Geforce 320M in the MacBook. The Intel has 384MB whereas the NVIDIA has 256MB

Personally I find that I can type much faster and more comfortably on a shallow keyboard like a PowerBook keyboard than on a deep keyboard (like an old original IBM keyboard). I have one of the classic IBM style keyboards hooked up to my PC, and I don't like it much. If I were going to buy a new keyboard, I'd go for something like the Icekey.

If I bring this to the Genius Bar, which is the more likely outcome: they will fix it, or exchange it? I'd like to know so I can start copying my files off of the computer.
if youre within 14 days you should be able to exchange it

Lol I am a guy. Blondie was just my nickname from high school. But yeah, I was wondering if the warranty would still cover my cracks for free as well. I have a few friends that have had issues with their 2009 MacBook plastic cracking as well. So I think they may head into apple and see what they can do.
Sorry :p let's hope the 2009 and later macbooks don't start cracking on everybody:(

Thanks for your help, guys. The file can be found at here (http://www.laurabarnard.co.uk/trifle) , but the Get info attachment will hopefully help. Thanks.

I didn't know they had vinyl banners, those are cool. I have a couple of the Think Different posters: Picasso and Earhart. Nabbed 'em right off the wall from my old work immediately after they went out of business- yoink! :D

Perhaps you should try removing the file com.apple.airport.preferences.plist from the folder you find it in. Perhaps some of the preferences are corrupt.
Also, I'd check to make sure the antenna is plugged in correctly. :)

I love mine!
Yeah it's thick, but seriously, I can throw my iPhone 4 and your glasses will crack, not my phone's.
Check out some videos on youtube, saw some people drop weights on the thing. When I bought mine, the lady had her phone in it and threw it to the ground (I shrieked like a lil girl) and low and behold, the phone was fine.
Oh and you can use the clip for a stand as well.

It's based on what Apple is signing, not what's on your phone. I don't know why the OP didn't want to save the blob. If you've got the blob, you can install that ios anytime you want.
can u only save blobs from the current FW that your idevice is on or can u save whatever Apple is signing?

It's still Chrome. I downloaded the latest version and when typing a server name to browse on the corporate network, it searches for the name instead. That's a very dumb issue for a web browser to have. It should try contacting it first and if there are DNS failures, then search for it.
Uninstalled and back to Firefox. At this point, I don't ever plan on trying Chrome again. I have tried it many times and each time there's some nuisance.

Probably Square One for me.
Any idea if usually it's any better than lining up in downtown?

Another reason Alt/Option may be "locked" is that you may have set up firmware password protection. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1352 (It actually shows up as a lock).
If so, turn it off.

Ahh, I don't know if 'StuffIt' would be such a good company name. Though come to think of it, 'Allume' isn't much better

That's really the beauty of google voice, once you transisition to it you never have to worry about changing numbers again or giving people different numbers. You do have to make that initial transition and give all your contacts a new number BUT it's the last one you will have to hive them.
Does this provide a seamless way to transition from texting on my iPhone to texting on the iPad and vice versa? I wouldn't even dream of switching numbers unless the experience of sending and receiving texts was better than just using my phone.
