This evening at Comic-Con, Bungie announced that they will be releasing a "Halo Reach" limited edition bundle. It will be available on September 14th, the same day the game releases. It is essentially the same as the new 250GB "S" version, just with a different color and design on the outside. Plus it comes with some extra stuff, like most bundles...

The Mhz myth is true. When Genentech is able to use a dual 1 Ghz Mac to go 5 times faster than their PC counterparts, and Photoshop up to 90 % faster than a Pentium IV 2.53 Ghz on a dual 1.25 Ghz Mac, the myth is true. Even the Athlon 2.6 Ghz is faster than the 2.8 Ghz Pentium IV. In some instances even the 1.6 Ghz Pentium III is faster than the Pentium IV. Mhz has nothing to do with speed. When your stage is 3 times longer, you have to go three times as fast to catch up.
If your Mac is slower than a PC for any reason on the same application it is because the software hasn't been optimized for the Mac. Write the software developer before you complain about the Mac speed. Get them to develop for Altivec. It makes a world of difference.

i have it but never use it, to hard to do on that tiny screen. maybe if the 5th gets a 4 inch screen

Reminds me of the recent windows phone 7 commercial: "Lets you get in, and out, and back to life" Translation: "This phone isn't interesting enough to keep your attention so, you get in, and you'll want to get out, so you can get back to life." Microsoft just doesn't get the message they send with the subtle details I guess.

Wouldn't it be lovely if the new iPhones ship with 32 gb (as the base phone) and 64 gb (as the higher capacity phone)?

In fact, I think it was more or less confirmed that the only reason the iPhone 4 wasn't 64 GB had to do with some kind of patent issue or supply constraints due to anticompetitive practices (I forget exactly), which made the chips too scarce for production.
As for the Expose prototype, I agree with others. I think they dumped this multitasking interface because using the App icon made more sense given screen space limitations.

Check the DNS settings in network setup in your computers, and in your router/modem. See what you have. Your ISP should have servers they recommend, try them. Or you can search the internet for other DNS servers, try some public ones out, like the aforementioned Google.
If they are set fine in your router/modem, you can set your computers to nothing or to the IP of your router, which is usually something like 192.168.0.1.
I've seen computers (or modems) that end up with half a dozen DNS servers listed, maybe not even typed in properly, and it would sit and wait with a blank page for 5 seconds before loading any webpage. Cleaning up DNS with a good server usually drops that wait time.
I also once had a similar problem to Popeye's, where I couldn't go to certain websites. I can't remember specifics, I think I replaced my Qwest DNS with Verizon's or something and it cleaned that up. That was many years ago, it's a little foggy.

I was in line for the iPhone 4 last June at Stonebriar Mall in Frisco at 11pm. They kicked everybody out (disbursed the line) at something like 2am that morning. Talk about a disaster! I really hope security and Apple have a better plan arranged this time! I'm thinking I may try to get off work early and get in line at around 1:00pm

I also had a general anesthesia done once. Same story as tpjunkie, but my body tried to fight it off. It took them 4 doses from the usual to get me out ( :cool: ) Not only that, but I woke up earlier than expected, and in full shape almost right away. Good thing the surgeon also finished early! :eek:

Well.. I ordered the 320m Air yesterday, after reading up on the latest rumors. Maybe I will regret this but since I plan to do some basic 3D (Maya) modelling and opengl graphics development on the go, I figured the sandy bridge upgrade will actually be more of a downgrade.
We'll see.

Here in Canada, we just had a carrier launch on the AWS band. Their prices are dramatically better than anything the old carriers offered. even if apple wanted to keep the iphone exclusive in the states, they could have still included the band for our sake.

i really thinking of selling my ipad.. i mean for 90% of the time my 17" MBP gets the job done.. and for quick e-mail checks or when im out the house, my iphone is invaluable, the ipad is a nice idea but i would not use it in the house, and pointless carrying that and my ip4 around

Since this is Zune launch day:
Seeing as apple now has a majority of auto makers making connectivity and now the airline industry is getting on board, this is a major blow to the Zune. Neither cars nor airplanes will come with every connection possible so that any media player can be used. This is a great step for apple and potential apple customers.
How about a built-in mag safe connector for the airplanes too? :)
That truly is the news ... it's not MP3 player integration ... it's iPod integration!

I kinda feel like we should at least have the option to not have every element of our gui bogged down with image files.
I was thinking that it would be cool if more of the UI was plain openGL and less image based. how cool (although impracticle) would it be if the entire gui was 5 channels. R, G, B, alpha, displace. Then the os could load ONE metal image, and all the sliders, buttons,wells could be smokey glass(slightly transparent, dark grey, and displaced the image behind it like a glass of water.) that would be more open gl work but less loading of images.
that would reflect the realitive increase in graphics processors comprared to regular ones.

I had a few GA�s and I think I�ve had both gas and IV�s.
Whichever you have it�s normal for the doctor (I�ll not try to attempt and spell anestithologist <that�s why) to ask you to count down from ten, you won�t make seven before you�re under.
While you�re under you don�t dream, or at least I never have.
Coming round is the weird part as it�s not like waking up from sleep, it�s like when you are so tired you can�t keep your eyes open. You know when you�re sat in front of TV at night and the shopping channel comes on and you�re powerless to even lift the remote but can see the horror in front of you.
You�ll come round from the drugs like this and then drift back off to �normal� sleep ie sleep your body�s decided you need as opposed to drug induced.
Waking from that sleep is fairly normal except you�ll have to deal with the pain of whatever operation you just had. :(

I have zero reason to downgrade to Sandy Bridge with its forced worthless IGP & chipset.
I do believe the backlit keyboard will make it back IF Apple continues to sell a MacBook. If Apple eliminates the MB and puts the low end MBA in its place at $999, then I suspect the backlit keyboard stays a thing of the past. If however Apple keeps the MB, I think it will conclude that at least the 13" MBA needs the upgraded feature. It is extremely low cost. I would be shocked if it costs $0.50 per MBA unit, and it seems like a big advantage. I think Apple likes to "experiment" with features so it can then add them back and act like they learned their lesson when actually they just want added sales.
I really don't believe there is any worry about a Sandy Bridge CPU making its way into the MBA. With Apple's update cycles, it could easily just wait for Ivy Bridge. Let's remember that the only Mac that uses low and ultra low voltage CPUs are the two MBAs. Apple can update the MB, Mac mini, and 21.5" iMac to Sandy Bridge standard core CPUs and not get the horrific loss in graphics performance that the MBA would receive with LV and ULV CPUs and their respective IGPs. I just think the vast majority of MBA buyers a, don't care, and b, would be better off with C2D and Nvidia 320m for another year.
