Well, in my experience, dual-layer burning can be fickle business, with a higher fail rate than CD and single-layer burning, so I wouldn't say right off the bat that it's a broken drive.
I had a similar issue a while back, and found that using a different brand of media fixed the issue right away, so I'd suggest you try the same. Incidentally, Verbatim was the brand I actually got to work, whereas Memorex and [brand which I forget] failed repeatedly. Unfortunately, given the relative cost of these sorts of disks, experimentation isn't too cheap.

Hello there!
Vitaliy from Playfo here.
I am happy to announce that our game Tap The Frog was launched fat App Stores world-wide!
http://tapthefrog.com/presskit/525/TTF_Banner_525x134.png
Tap The Frog is a small but awesome speed and reflexes test game. Its based on the simple and fun collection of 16 mini-games that challenge the player during the gaming experience. Each mini-game is unique and designed to test reaction and quickness of the player.
http://tapthefrog.com/presskit/525/TTF_Banner_525x355-5-white.png
You will have an opportunity to drive on frog-car, jump with parachutes, make phone call to hot pink froggiess, make frog triple jumps, tranquilize frogs, pump frogs, and even eat the flies!
All these fun things should be done as quickly and accurately as possible! Any delay threatens the loss of stars which you can acquire while playing the game!
http://tapthefrog.com/presskit/525/TTF_Banner_525x355-2.png
Each mini-game will calculate the speed and reaction of the player using 5-point star system, depending on the results.
Geting one star is pretty easy, getting five stars - nearly impossible.
But that's not all! There are a lot of achievement badges that could be unlocked only by hardcore players! :)

Hey Everyone,
This is my first post, wanted to get some help on a problem with my Casecrown Black Metallic Slider case. The case is great don't get me wrong, but the damn thing is stuck! I am using a Zagg Invisible Shield on the front and back (I probably should have taken off the back one before putting the case on, correct?). Any solutions getting the case removed?
Also, is it worth keeping this case if its going to get stuck everytime? Any recommendation? Thanks to all in advance who decide to help a first timer out.

It is always unlocked, even after I've explicitly clicked the lock to lock it , after I re-open System Preferences it still remains unlocked.
I do not do any type of sharing with any computer on my network, so why does that lock gets unlocked by it self?
Im thinking it's normal and there;s nothing to worry about but how do I make the lock stay locked
Also, I've noticed that after you've unlocked something if you don't click the lock to lock it .. it remains open, even after reboot. So, if I forget to lock the lock anyone with access to my computer(physically and over the internet) can change settings that require administrator privilege. Is there a way to rectify this? Or just remember to lock the lock? lol

OK, so I am on page 21 of this book, and the author is telling me that he will only teach me how to program for IE, as it is the 95% most popular platform, and he just actually said that professionals use PageMaker.
Do I through this thing in the trash and move onto the other two books I bought?

You weren’t clear about your questions, you keep going back and forth about Safari’s refreshing thing on iOS and iOS vs. Lion. I tried to explain everything from the beginning.
Well finally we get to something that might actually be helpful. This would help to explain why Macs don't do this. But are there any issues/concerns with this?
The NANDs (flash storage) in the mobile devices are too slow to constantly swap out between the system memory and the NANDs. The other problem is that the more you swap out from the NANDs, the faster it dies. The smaller the capacity, the faster it can die as well. NANDs have a very limited write lifespan, it can’t handle the brutal write-intensive swap page. RAM doesn’t have this problem, which is why it is used for memory tasks.
I know why they did it. And that is the way Apple wants it, that's why it's default. If it were up to Apple the option to put it back would be gone. But they were smart enough to anticipate the "outrage"It doesn’t have anything to do with a potential outrage from customers, Apple usually do not care about this. The biggest reason that it is optional is because the auto-resume/auto-save/versions are not mandatory and each app have to be written to take advantage of those features. It’ll be a long time before every apps on your Mac can take advantage of this.
This is my point of concern. No closing could cause apps to "close" that you didn't want them to. Now most of them would be able to *resume* as left with no issue. But would 30 safari tabs be handled the same way? You can still close the applications the same way as you do on Snow Leopard. If the system becomes slow, the OS will not start to close apps, it’ll just be slower as it adapt to using your hard drive. Safari is the same way, you close Safari and once it opens, it’ll start in a new tab waiting for you to visit a site. As far as I am aware, it doesn’t resume *yet* from your previous session.
The only major difference between Lion and SL in terms of resuming is how the apps open back up and how it automatically save your files.

HEEELP!
I am multi camming and when I am trying to drag between the two clips to edit the cam cuts, it speeds and slow.
Can someone help? I need to knock this edit out immediately. I think I'ver rendered to many times and would only be able to fix this by re multi camming, right?

Right now I have 2010 13 Mbp and a 2.93 i7 iMac but I want a Mac pro for the ability to upgrade and expansion. So I'm considering selling them both for a Mac pro. Say I buy one one now am I going to be able add a thunderbolt port via pci slot. Or should I wait until apple does it

Plug your iPod into your Mac or PC, go to iTunes then hit restore on the iPod tab on the left, iTunes will restore all of your firmware to normal and your iPod will be as new.

Apple will post a recorded, and edited, copy of the keynote in the afternoon, usually a few hours after it ended. It won't be live on their site, but I think Iphonealley.com is doing an actual live stream.

What happened, OP?
The OP has a simple question, :o but was a little unclear in their description, so we ask or clarification. :( Next thing you know we're arguing over the terms, ranting about our pet peeves, over-describing the problem, re-defining definitions we all understand, and... no response from poor OP.
We probably scared him away.
Come back little feller! ;)
dmz
I couldn't agree more dmz. The guy just wanted some simple advice and as usual out come the soap boxes!!
The way I read it, the OP was doing a "job" in Illustrator which involved placing and tracing an image. Said image must have been too low res or too small and so resulting trace was not up to scratch. The client has said that a better quality image be used to result in a better quality vector.
OP, the quality of your trace will be governed by the quality of your source image. Relying on Live Trace alone is not always ideal, and as has been suggested elsewhere a certain amount of "tweaking" will be required.
I doubt whether we'll ever find out anymore from the OP because if it were me I'd have given up on this thread ages ago and found my help and advice elsewhere!

Very nice. I like the photographs, and the Apple logo is always a nice touch to any image =D I can't identify the rollercoasters, but then I am not a big coaster fan. And never went to one while in the USA.

This is for people familiar with ssds; if you don't quite understand the question, the question is not for you ;p
After setting up my mac just the way I like it, would it be favorable to back up my entire machine, secure erase my ssd using linux, then restore said backup to the drive?
Basically I want my ssd running at top performance. From a logistics point of view, I think it would be "better" to have my system, in it's fully set-up state, copied 'once' to the ssd after a secure erase to ensure peak performance.
Any additional thoughts?

That's exactly my plan. I'm going to be looking into getting a new MacBook or potentially an iMac here within a few months.
My next questions are those I asked in my original post. I have my Mac, an external HDD, an iPhone and an iPad to work with. What I need is a way to have my entire current Mac bcaked up and ready to be recovered on my next Mac (taken care of via time machine backup) next I need the ability to access whatever information I will need in order to be able to sync my iPad/iPhone to a friend or family members PC. I would love to be able to do this without leaving a footprint on the PC I'm using, if there's a solution for that. (if so, I may need a walkthrough) and the last and final question is what steps do I need to take to completely reset the Mac to where it's practically brand new.
Thanks.
