I have to agree with the OP. Most of the front end features such as Launchpad and three+ finger multigestures are from iOS. Sure there are some tweaks under the hood, but for desktop/professional users of OS X, I need power refinement not cute little icons that wiggle. Leave that **** to the iOS kiddies and focus on OS X. The only thing Apple is doing is dumbing down OS X to make it easier for the iDevice groupies to move into laptop systems or an iMac.
Apple doesn't give two ****'s about us professionals who kept them from folding during their chapter 11 days in the 90's before Jobs came back. It's all about consumer market share, making their products in Taiwan now and $50+ billion in cash reserves.

Do you know where Chrome stores its bookmarks file? If you can find it, restoring just that one file will do the trick. Note: You'll have to do this manually, without the help of the Time Machine interface or Migration Assistant.

I think you'd probably be able to reset it using the OSX install disks, booting from them and then selecting Reset Password from the Installer menu which will give you a list of passwords you can reset. :)

Hey vollspacken,
If you're a student, have you checked out Apple's educational discounts? I think they were selling the 667 and 800 Mhz models for about $1,900 and $2,400, respectively. I paid about $2,600 back in January for a 550 Mhz. :(

I joined up maybe 2 weeks ago and I jumped from like 850+ already up to 237...I keep Folding running on my Mac Pro 24/7, and the nice thing is, it really crunches the numbers, but I *never* feel any kind of lag from it :)
I was wondering, does this Folding project help at all with diabetes? I didn't specifically see anything about that disease on their site, and I have a few really close friends who have it...

Is there a way to record HD video using the 2011 MBP's FaceTime HD camera? PhotoBooth seems to be recording low-res video only.

fyi, Leo Burnett are one of the largest advertising agencies in the world, hence the corporate work and the money to put into a gratuitously elaborate website...
Yeah, I know, and they do what they do very well. But I would expect a creative website like that to have more creative work behind it, and consequently expect a slick advertising company to have a slick, more conventional website.
Having said that, I've seen this posted in various places on the web, and so maybe their good advertising skills are working as well as expected - we're all taking about it, aren't we?!

I can't speak for the C560R as I have the C710. But, Denon in general has been making great IEM's. You get really bang for the buck and the quality is amazing. I had some Sennheiser's before and I used to send them in every couple of months for warranty as they kept dying. I've had my Denon's for quite a while now and can't complain.

As I've said before, never chose a games machine over a computer or anything used as a creative device.

I'm not entirely sure what to tell you. Perhaps you figured the sizes incorrectly? Or, the older backups are not yet deleted.
Personally, I'd advise against using your backup drive for anything else. You can do it but you run a little more risk of data loss. If you are careful it would be ok but considering that those external drives are so inexpensive I'd just buy another one.

I have a folder under my username called Movies where I store all of those. To delete the redundant formats, you'll have to locate them through Finder and manually delete them.Thank you very much, that helped a lot. :)

I preferred it as on the original Apples it was always referred to as the Apple key. Also it makes things easier when giving someone instructions over the phone. Now instead of saying let's say Apple S I have to say Command S. Then they say "what is command?", no one ever knows what the command key is. To which I have to reply the key by the space bar with the little box and four circles.

Oh and another word of note, no matter what notebook you get, it is best not to travel in sleep mode inside the case if you are doing any amount of driving or transportation riding. The shaking from the potholes alone can cause wear and tear on the hard drive much quicker than if the machine is shut down and the drive is parked. You have some control though if you have it on your lap while you are travelling.
i'm pretty sure that drives are spinned down & their heads parked when a sleep command is issued...
at least that's the case with my BW/350, so i would expect the portables to behave the same.
plus, modern 2.5" hds are amazingly robust. most can handle operational shocks of some 100 to 200 g/ms
i doubt that travelling with sleeping laptops can cause any harm to the drives.

Probably it's better to delete a plist than trying to alter it. As you were told, after deleting the file, a new one is generated by the application when it next opens.
If you are concerned about initially deleting the file, you can always move it onto the desktop and then delete it after everything is running ok. In the unlikely event of something untoward, you can always move the original file back to its original position.
