Why no Thunderbolt cards for MacPro users?
Your answer is found in MR's story on TB (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/02/25/notes-of-interest-on-thunderbolt-and-macbook-pro/) when it first came out on the MBP's:
- CNet's live coverage reveals that there are no plans to offer Thunderbolt PCIe cards. In fact, Intel says that you will need a new computer/motherboard to get Thunderbolt. That means Mac Pro owners won't be able to add it on to their systems.
10:25 a.m. (Dong Ngo) : There won't be TB PCIe cards it seems. You'll need a new computer.
10:34 a.m. (Dong Ngo) : There won't be add-in TB adapters, you'll need a new computer/motherboard that supports TB.
Since it's PCIe related, my guess is that its integration goes deeper than just a "PCIe socket" on the logic board. Just slapping a TB PCIe card in a MacPro won't do it, apparently. Bummer, yeah.
I'm glad I sold my 2008 Mac Pro and picked up one of those new MBP's. I love being able to take my Mac(Book) Pro anywhere with me. Couldn't have done that very easily/conveniently with the Mac Pro. Now hurry up TB dock/RAID. :)

whats not to say someone just changed the carrier name? I don't own an iphone but I did search and its totally possible.
There is more to this than the carrier tag.
I don't see a reason apple would need to create an iPhone for T-Mobile if the AT&T plan goes through. If it's rejected than maybe thats a reason then to possibly go on T-Mobile.
As noted in this thread... adding an extra band opens oter networks besides TM. Also, if purchased, TM cannot flick a switch on all their towers to make them at&t compliant.

It's all rather moot till they get authentic to the standard, and use Fiber Optics!
Substituting old fashioned wire is so misleading.
A bit faster yes, but nothing like Fiber.
This is rather amusing. I found this Apple Document (http://images.apple.com/xserve/pdf/L322097A_FibrChnl_TB.pdf) about Fibre Channel. You will notice that Apple has copper cables available. It would be interesting to compare Fibre Channel with Thunderbolt. Apart from TB integrating video, TB looks a lot like an evolution of Fibre Channel.
As TB progresses the transfer rates should increase which can only be good.
Moot? Whatever.

This is downright silly that a 50bil dollar company can't get a freaking mouse right nor the ability to scroll or right click. No wonder they are turning off a lot of people.
Different is good when it has a purpose. Just had to do everything apple way and cost a gazillion dollars for a decent mouse. It is way too much for me to take, even if it is APPLE. There i said it !!

Good thing that Apple takes parental controls as seriously as they take porn in their Disney store... Oh, wait. They don't.
Hello?!
Why it is Apples job to "control" kids?
Typical attitude these days:
Somebody "f#$%^%$ up and it's just gotta be somebody elses fault!
There's got to be a way that they can sue Apple for several millions over this.
After all Apple allowed somebody to log into itunes.

Turned sideways and with the slanted edge toward the back of my desk...
Airport Extreme perched atop, ISP router and various cords hidden within.
Yummie! I love cord-hiding goodness!

Can you name a few more? I have only seen Sony support AAC on their PMP devices.
From my own experience the PS3 and the Nintendo DSi all read iTunes purchased music, albeit with some metadata weirdness.

Ahhh.... Google bought that. And given Android is based on open source, don't you think your argument on OSX is rather weak?
Apple bought OS X too. :D
I'm arguing that both were massive undertakings by both parties. My OS X example was tainted with sarcasm if you didn't catch the little  there.
Both OS X and Chrome OS (and Android, and iOS) borrow heavily from others, either through acquisitions or from the open source community. To claim Google is any inferior here is just trying to stir the pot, especially calling the poster Troll, that is just insulting and uncalled for.
Both companies deserve props from providing the software they do, neither deserves scorn that some posters here like to dish out.
ChromeOS has pieces of Linux...I'll give you that. But Google didn't do much...
Android is Linux. They didn't make that either.
So what ? OS X is Mach/XNU, Apple didn't make that. It's also a GNU/Berkeley userland, Apple didn't make that either. Again guys, drop the non-sense competition, this thread is about a release of OS X, not some type of Google bashing contest.

I notice the apple store defaulted to a glossy screen, does anyone know if changing that to matte classes as a customization in the return policy?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's a Strawberry Banana Smoothie. peapody gave me the idea after posting it in the last thread. I looked up its nutritional info, and I think it might be the healthiest thing on McDonalds' menu!
What did you think surely? I looked up Jamba's strawberries wild nutritional value and it about equals the mdondalds one. That's not bad considering everything out of mcdonalds is scary high in calories.
Thank you :)
He is a Toy American Eskimo (Eskimo/German/Japanese Spitz).
Sooo cute - how is the demeanor and personality? Good apartment dog?

Future is lookin pretty cool.
Not sure how Thunderbolt works, as I'm sure not everyone does yet. But is this a technology that can evolve on its own? As USB 2.0 and 3.0?

I'm betting the tax rebate checks will bump Apple sales...
People with extra cash + unusually low priced popular stock. I believe your betting correctly ;)
I say, buy now. Because by April, Apple will have rolled out several new products and generated lots of buzz once again. This low price will waiver a bit and won't last through February.

You might have inside sources at Apple, because you seem to be too sure that it will cost 2K and would only last for 2 - 3 years.
I remember people not wanting an iPad when the rumors broke out. Same thing.
So how much do you think the rumored Apple TV should cost to be wildly successful WHILE maintaining 50% (approx) profit margin?

Specs don't mention IPS panel like with previous models.
It is mentioned in the screen section under features.

What's so great about the rating arrows is you can tell who's got the balls to share honestly, versus the suck ups with high positive ratings for being perfect yes men.
Nothing ever improves without candid feedback. Yes men breed dysfunction and stagnation. Rock on boys..:)
Not sure which bucket you're putting me in :-)

What?
Seriously dude, you're in the wrong thread.
This isn't the "What Is Your Wish?" or "Random Thought For The Day" thread.
People are talking about tax returns and yes I spent about everything I made on my computer, I am a full time college student. And half the posts in this thread are about who started it and why they started it so early...

And you're really going to use all that are you? With the exception of RAM and hard disks, most computer consumers never expand their computers.
Few even upgrade their HD's, i think apple users upgrade the RAM but that's only because Apple have *never* sold a computer (at least since the original iMac) with enough RAM.
One interesting think I have realised from going back to a PC laptop (i'm borrowing it and waiting for new MBP's/MB's) is how annoying many of the applications are, for example WinSCP, when you move a file across it brings up a dialog to confirm where you want to copy it to, even though the odds are 99.99% that you want to move it from the visible directory on the left to the visible directory on the right. An OS X application (eg Fugu or Cyberduck in this case) would never do that. Basically even if Vista is superior to Leopard in ease of use and features (which ain't gonna happen :p) because OS X app's are in general designed better I'd probably keep using a Mac, this is an excellent reason to switch too.
