What is concerning to me is that I wrote a comment, "nice affiliate link" in that thread. And my comment was deleted. not flagged or edited -- deleted.
We generally don't send messages to people making post reports as it is a time consuming process. The moderator who handled this case recognized the affiliate link as being from MR so knew nothing needed to be edited in the OP's post. I'm not sure what flagging your post would have done, and if we simply edited every post members made that was an incorrect statement, it would needlessly clutter the forums. Also, reporting a post, plus responding to the post you reported generally causes more work for us moderators, so we prefer you simply report the post only.
In short the your post was deleted because it was off-topic, and the moderators generally don't make personal follow-ups on these kinds of edits because of the time it takes. The Contact Us form is there for when members have specific questions about moderation if they really want clarification from us. And we have no issue clarifying our actions when people ask.

No, it was not vague. However, it is possibly illegal. M4V is MP4 with Apple iTunes DRM as an option. The OP is asking about breaking DRMed files.
I simply don't think that is the case here. Handbrake DOES generate m4v files. He isn't talking about apple DRM, which is only one feature of m4v.

shame to see him go. he is one of the better tech writers out there in my opinion. makes me wonder what engadget will be like without him.

Except had you bought LightRoom 2 just before LightRoom 3 you would be in the same boat.
/Critical thinking skills.
Clearly your critical thinking skills need work - I didn't say it would be different. I don't have sufficient information on which to base comment about Adobe's camera update policy.
I'll try and explain it to you again.
I pointed out that a company supposedly famed for its world leading customer service hangs those same customers out to dry by not providing updates from the moment a new version comes out. Aperture 2 never had support for the Panasonic LX3 and had flaws with the Canon 30D raw support. The LX3 support was "due" but when it came it came the other side of v3 and so Apple's stance is to leave v2 customers hanging. I assume Apple's refusal to provide camera updates (not functional improvements) for v2 is to force migration to v3. That marketing decision will instead, push me to to buy a competitors product.
I have Abobe Master Collection CS3.3 - I still get updates for that, despite CS4. And for MS Office Win XP etc. Hell - I even get updates on Apps I've bought.
From your comment you've demonstrated an inability to understand a simple premise and the validity of the comment which followed. Being able to type "critical thinking skills" isn't the same as understanding the term or using those skills if you have them ;)

Hi guys,
The time came to buy a new laptop. I really want to get a powerbook 15" with Superdrive but what I do is requiring allot of PC power. I need it for work and what I do is (Actuate reporting, DB2 clients, Oracle clients, Sybase clients, IBM apps such as Lotus notes ect. and ClearCase and some other Rational stuff, also Java web stuff)
I know I can't have it all on Mac it's just won't support all this stuff written for MS.
Is there a way to install an app such as advertized on this forum Pc on Mac to fully support all the apps I need or I might run in to many issues in the future (such as drivers ect.). If I can't do it with Powebook I will have to get Thinkpad T42 or T43 that will run me pretty much the same amount of money. (Thinkpads are good actually very good if not the best but I really wanted to get Powerbook if I can do all I need in it)
TAIA
Reporting programs and database clients should run well under Virtual PC. Lotus Notes is Mac-native. Java is as native on the Mac as it is on Windows.

Apple is offering a new promotion. Buy a Power Mac or PowerBook for up to $400 less when you add a display. I cant imagine this not leading up to the update in the display line we've all been hoping for.

I am having trouble using the photos uploaded to IPhoto. For some reason, when I try to upload these to Shutterfly or Snapfish, they are telling me the file is too small to even print as a 4X6......
When you export from iPhoto you can select the desired resolution. Have you set it yourself or are you letting it default? I suspect the latter.

Hello all,
Just curious if anyone has found any iPod Touch 4th cases at Wally-world...
Nope! All the Walmarts around me only have cases for the previous generations.

When working on my iMac, randomly, my iMac screen goes gray (it fades from top of the screen to the bottom, locks me out and the message asks me to hold the power button down and reboot. It's a mid-2010 iMac. Any suggestions to make this stop??

upper cache.. i was told by a friend that it is a way to download images to a computer only once, even though you may have it in many places. for example, a title bar. so it doesn't have to download the image again every time they go to a new page wasting your precious bandwidth. if anyone can tell me what it is better, how to do it, or where to find out how to do it, i would really appreciate it..

I've had this iMac for a couple of months and it's in great shape.
I'm making room for a new machine so I thought I would see what
I could get for this one. I'm looking to get around $1000.00 shipped
in the US. (negotiable of course)
I don't do PayPal, only money orders or cashiers checks. I'm okay if you are
with a personal check as long as you don't mind waiting an extra business day
for the check to clear before I ship. As I've mentioned before in other posts,
I've sold many things here to satisfied customers.
24-inch widescreen display
4GB memory (I know, it can only use 3.3 worth)
250GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVDRW/CD-RW)
NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT with 128MB GDDR3 memory
Built-in iSight camera
Original discs including the drop in Leopard disc

I hate when people ask this question.. you will always be asking wether you should get the new model or wait out for the next one. Just get it now, sell it when the 3 comes out and move on... otherwise you will be here every year asking the same question while the rest of us will be enjoying the latest piece of technology Apple delivers.

About how many people where waiting in line you think for the WiFi launch? Im not sure what time I should get in line.
I got there at around 5:45 AM and I was the 7th person in line. By the time it opened at 9AM I would say there was about 150 people in line. I don't expect as many people.
I expect there will be a decent turnout since it will be available to purchase at 5pm on a Friday. I'm going to get there at around 3:30 PM. Just in case!:D
