Thanks for the tip. Did this last year too, was fun.

I don't have a direct answer, but I did get some helpful direction on the Apple OS X Server forum:

My MBA shows the time as 2:10 AM. What gives? Shouldn't it be 1:10 now?
The time server is an time zone that hasn't switched yet, it may be still on the old time....

Just my late '09 17" MBP. My parents are too set in Windows to try something else, but believe me, I've tried.

Upgrading to 4 gigs of ram would make a world of difference in performance and multitasking. However, you're not going to be able to upgrade the video card. Laptops are not like desktops in regards to that. If its a big deal to you, I'd say buy a new macbook and ebay/sell your existing one to get some cash to help pay for it.

Funny in the beginning but it got old. With advertising you don't want to keep replaying the same old same old. People start tuning out.
They were good, but it was time to discontinue them.
Exactly.
At the beginning, the ads were smug.
After 6 months, they were smug and starting to get old. The series was no longer fresh.
That's when Apple and their marketing group decided to run the ads for another few years, until everyone, even people like my parents who don't care about computers, disliked the ads.

Apple has really missed the boat with Sketch/Search feature. Would be infinitely useful inside Google Maps.
Guess we need an app for it.
I'm not sure what you mean here. Is it Apple or Google that's missed the boat? You're placing blame on the iPhone's manufacturer/OS for what an included 3rd party app is lacking, in your opinion?
Is this not another third party developer thats come to your rescue, on the same device/OS? What boat has Apple missed?

I have in my possession a macbook pro 15 2.3ghz quad core and mac pro 6-core. I used to use the mac pro with a 27" led, but do to annoying glare that just gave me headaches, I got rid of it and got a 30" instead. I also have an ipad for just random stuff, and just watching movies on the plane if needed.
So I lost a contract and thus need to cutdown on costs tremendously. I'm a developer and do apple / windows development (windows in vm, and xcode). I have 3-4 VMs running in fusion (usually one at a time). I also enjoy games like wow, portal, portal 2 now (wonderful!), and maybe others in the future. Games are definitely faster on a windows machine, but the mac pro handles them well. Although playable, I really do not want to play games on the macbook pro.
So the question....
Should I sell the macbook pro (already got a buyer) for $2800 and just keep mac pro + ipad. This is fine but eventually may need a laptop when I start traveling again.
or
Should I sell mac pro (already got a buyer for $3800) and keep macbook pro 15 + ipad. Keep the macbook pro for all work related things and build a cheap gaming rig (800-1000$) for just games and personal windows software? I like the separation of personal + games / business for this choice, but sometimes will want to work on the big monitor so switching the cabling between the gaming rig and laptop will get annoying (never tried working primarily on just laptop).
Thoughts? And thanks so much all for replying a head of time!!

I see your frustration and i feel the exact same way.
I have visited other boards on the internet looking for a solution
and the amount of crap I have been reading, that you have to use this
and that and use WMP 9. as it has the codec and it works for them.
Like you I tried them, even tried to open in Final cut pro and Avid
as well as VLC...etc.
What is going on? is th Windoz market trying to loose customers as is Apple loosing its market share by not interacting with it, as in your case you feel like switching systems because of the mass use of WMV3 files.
I believe those that use a mac and think they have cracked it may not be running a WMV3 file.

I purchased the peachpit press books intending to do the Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA 10.6) exams but havent had time to do so until now. From what iv'e read about discontinuing of xserve and apple looking to move away from this area is it really worth my time and money doing this certification anymore? I want some apple certification to my name. Im wondering if I should just do the Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) 10.6. its only one exam as opposed to four. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

I am looking for an 8GB iPhone shipped to Canada with it's original packaging not unlocked. Thanks!
PS. Be sure to leave a price.
I have one that is in excellent condition, just replaced only a month ago from my local Apple store. Have the original box... earphones still in wrapper from factory NEVER used. Desktop dock and AC adapter everything as if you were buying new today from store. I will not take less than $350.00 including shipping.

You could try speaking with the manager at the Apple Store. Usually with Apple rules are rules. Good luck. ;)

I know what this is... this is an example of a Company trying to out do Apple Computer Inc.
The brilliant Marketing and Product design folks there forgot to check the MacRumors site where they could have easily caught wind of the XServe.
The Moral of the Story... Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for the rest...:(

Very nice idea for an app! I've been doing this by hand until now--one of the first non-photo uses I thought of for the color display.
FYI, it supports MapQuest and MapBlast too.
EDIT: Oops... it's text-only. Guess I'll keep loading the actual maps onto my iPod by hand.

I just bought a pair on ebay but they do not power up. I was going to try and get my money back but I could sell them to you. The speakers look perfect in them. I am not sure why they do not power up.
Let m eknow if you are interested.
Thanks!

The eMac is a better system than many people give it credit for.
It actually has superior hardware to the mini or the iBook.
The 17" CRT display is also very nice to work with.
Your mom will appreciate it's clean looks and ease of use, so really
if you set it up so both of you can benefit from it why not?

I've noticed that the lines at the Detroit area Apple retailers are very small compared to the rest of the country. I guess Detroiter's have different priorities than the rest of the country. This is a good thing IMO, we still love our idevice.
